About the Role
Peeler's Wild Alaska Seafood is looking for a down-to-earth, energetic people-person to join our small (but mighty) team as a Mobile Seafood Sales Rep. Based out of Montana’s beautiful Flathead Valley, you'll hit the open road in our seafood truck and trailer, bringing wild-caught Alaskan seafood to small towns across Montana, Idaho, and North Dakota.
If you love meeting folks, traveling to new places, and selling something you truly believe in, this job might be your perfect adventure.
What You'll Do
- Hit the Road: Drive our truck & trailer to small towns across Montana, Idaho, and North Dakota each week. You'll set up shop at farmers markets, parking lots, and community events to sell our premium wild-caught seafood (we visit ~90 different communities a year).
- Engage Customers: Greet folks with a smile, share our story, answer questions, and help customers pick out their next favorite salmon, halibut, crab – you name it. Building friendly relationships (and turning first-timers into regulars) is a big part of the job.
- Ring Up Sales: Handle on-site payment processing using Square on a tablet or smartphone. You’ll need to be comfortable with basic tech and keeping track of daily sales transactions.
- Embrace the Adventure: Be ready for a flexible schedule and changing locations – no two weeks are the same! One day you might be in a mountain town farmers market, the next in a prairie community roadside stop. Long drives and the occasional overnight stay are all part of the gig.
- Represent the Brand: Take pride in being the face of Peeler’s in each town. You’ll be our boots-on-the-ground ambassador, ensuring every customer has a great experience. Your enthusiasm and knowledge will keep folks coming back for more tasty seafood.
Who We're Looking For
- Road Warrior: You have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and you love the open road. Long distances don’t faze you (our team logged over 150,000 miles last year). You’re comfortable towing a trailer and can safely handle a pickup truck on highways and backroads, including overnight trips away from home.
- People Person: Outgoing and friendly, you genuinely enjoy chatting with folks from all walks of life. Making connections (and sales) comes naturally to you. (If you have previous sales or customer service experience, that’s a plus – but your positive attitude is what matters most.)
- Self-Starter: You’re motivated, independent, and trustworthy. You can manage your own schedule and tasks without someone looking over your shoulder. In fact, you thrive on the freedom and responsibility that comes with working on your own. Commission-based pay excites you because you know your hustle directly determines your success.
- Passionate Seller: You believe in what you’re selling. Our seafood is sustainably caught by friends & family in Alaska, something you can genuinely be proud to share with customers. Your passion for good food (and knowing where it comes from) is contagious when you talk to people.
- Adaptable Adventurer: Things change on the fly, and that’s fine by you. New town? New crowd? Bring it on. You roll with the punches, whether it’s weather, schedule tweaks, or learning the preferences of a new community. You embrace the adventure and view each day on the job as a new story to tell.
Schedule & Compensation
This role offers a ton of flexibility and independence. There’s no punch clock and no cubicle – one week’s itinerary will look different from the next. You might spend 3-4 days on the road in one stretch, then have a few days back home to recharge before the next trip. (We’ll work with you to plan a schedule that fits, based on our route needs and local events.)
Compensation: This is a commission-based position. That means the more seafood you sell, the more you earn – with no real ceiling on potential. If you’re a go-getter who loves a challenge, you can do very well. We provide training to get you up to speed on our products and sales approach, and we’ve got your back on the road: the company covers all travel expenses like fuel, lodging, and truck maintenance. All you need to bring is your energy and drive (and maybe a good road trip playlist!).
